SpendLab assists more than 170 government and commercial clients in helping them find and recover overpayments. Our team builds state-of-the-art technology systems that uses over 450 in-house developed algorithms and models to investigate large-scale accounting data and identify improper cash flows within our client’s procure-to-pay processes. We scrutinize invoice and payment flows for both large private and public organizations, identifying discrepancies on a no-cure, no-pay basis. Additionally, we support organizations in achieving cost savings through procurement and process optimization.

About the Role:
SpendLab is looking for a General Manager to join our team!
This role involves establishing and leading our new Serbian office, focusing on building a high-performing product development hub. You will oversee all aspects of operations, including product management, software engineering, and supporting functions, ensuring alignment with our global strategic objectives. Your leadership will be crucial in driving our transition to a SaaS model and optimizing operational efficiency.
About the Team:
The General Manager will lead a newly established team in Serbia, working closely with senior management to align local operations with SpendLab's global vision. The team will focus on product management, software engineering, and related functions, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to establish and grow the Serbian office as a key hub for product development
- Align local operations with the company’s global vision, particularly in driving our transition to a SaaS model
- Identify opportunities to optimize operational efficiency and support the company's product and technology goals
- Build and lead a high-performing team focused on product management, software engineering, and related functions
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that reflects the company’s leadership principles
- Oversee hiring, retention, and career development, ensuring continuous team improvement and alignment with company objectives
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring the smooth functioning of all departments
- Act as the legal representative of the company in Serbia, ensuring compliance with all relevant local laws and regulations
- Maintain strong relationships with local authorities and ensure all operations meet legal and quality standards
- Communicate operational performance and insights to the Senior Leadership Team
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
- Proven track record of managing complex projects and driving operational efficiency
- Experience in managing and developing teams across multiple departments
- Strong analytical and financial management abilities
- Excellent strategic planning and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership and motivational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

About the selection process:
Our selection process is designed to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of each candidate. It begins with an application review, where our internal teams assess your qualifications and provide feedback within two weeks. The second step is a 45-minute interview with our Talent Acquisition Consultant, focusing on HR topics such as availability, salary expectations, motivation, and local legislation. The third step involves interviews with key leaders, each lasting 45 to 60 minutes: the Chief of Staff will assess operational and communication skills, the People and Culture Director will evaluate cultural fit and people management, and the CEO will conduct an assessment of leadership, finance, and hiring manager responsibilities.
